A Blog about my journey as as web developer

2020 in Reivew

2020 was a year for the books.  Everyone will say something different about how their year went.  Some will say good things, others bad things.  For me?  Well it had both it’s ups and it’s downs, but I chose to look at the good that came out of this year.

See in January of 2020, I started a program that would take me about 18 months to be come a Full Stack Web Developer.  I knew that this was going to be an interesting and at times hard journey but I felt that it would be worth it. At the end of July I finished the Core Web Developer Material and started the Computer Science section.  I also gained employment through my school to be a Team Leader.  What an opportunity this was.  Not only did I get to keep my schooling going, but I also got to help a new class start their Core Web Material.  That allowed me to as a Team Leader go back through that material with out the pressure of learning it but gaining extra knowledge both by attending the same lectures as the students and as their Team Leader by helping them understand what was taught and even help fix errors.  As they were a full time class their core material took 4 months ( I go part-time so it takes twice as long).  I gained so much more knowledge this way, far more than I ever thought I could.  Just before Thanksgiving they finished their core material and they them selves would move on to Computer Science after the break.  As of January 11th, 2021 I will begin the Labs portion of the Program.  However I am still able to help students in the Core Units from other classes and it feels amazing.

Because of the shut downs and such I was able to really dedicate some quality time to learning the material and keep practicing the things I learned to get better at it and try new things.  I was able to help my kids with their schooling, help other Web Students with their material, and help myself by trying to creating new different applications that would require different ways to code.

Sure it wasn’t always easy through out the year some skills were harder to grasp than others, some errors or bugs the students I helped were easy to solve, others took some time to research.

So no matter what 2020 brought you, there is always something positive that happened.  You just need to look for it.
